Spectroscopic adventure – getting to the bottom of things

When a star explodes in the sky, its brightness increases. But we still do not know what happened and why. Only with spectroscopy were astronomers able to understand such events. It provides all our knowledge of the universe. In today’s “Golden Age of Astronomy”, this technique is also available to amateur astronomers and provides them with a window to the extreme events in space.

In his lecture at the ATT in Essen, Thomas Eversberg will examine the technology, its application, the range of instruments on the market and the possibility of building spectrographs himself.
